Every week I will be going through the gameweek’s matches and picking an overlooked or unpopular player that I think will perform well. I’ll then check at the end of the gameweek to see how well I did. Any defensive or attacking returns will count as a success for my pick.

I’ll also be selecting the player I think will score the most FPL points each gameweek.

I’m also using it as an interesting and informative exercise. If I can start nailing these regularly, it’ll give me confidence to start picking differential players for my own FPL team moving forward.

So without further ado, here are my picks for Gameweek 2;

Liverpool vs Burnley – Mane. Let’s try this again!! (SUCCESS)

Aston Villa vs Newcastle – Bailey. Looked good in his opening match. (FAIL)

Crystal Palace vs Brentford – Mbuemo. Can he continue his good form from the first match? (FAIL)

Leeds vs Everton – Firpo. Would be interesting to see him start. (FAIL)

Man City vs Norwich – Gundogan. A risk but if he plays, he could bang. (MEGA FAIL)

Brighton vs Watford – Cucho. Looked sharp when he came on against Aston Villa. (FAIL)

Wolves vs Tottenham – Jimenez. Love the guy and think he could do well against Spurs. (FAIL)

Southampton vs Man Utd – Sancho. Should start this game so would be good to see what he can do. (FAIL)

Arsenal vs Chelsea – Saka. Was one of Arsenal’s best players when he came on against Brentford. (FAIL)

West Ham vs Leicester – Fornals. Was just as effective as others but didn’t get the FPL points as a reward. (SUCCESS)

Highest scoring player of the gameweek – Mane. (FAIL)
